GTA IV is the most overrated game ever. I'm not even going to sugar coat it, it is a genuinely bad game. I don't care how pretty the presentation is, the mechanics are completely broken. It doesn't matter if its story is oscar worthy, If the gameplay isn't good then the game isn't good.
All GTA games have had their flaws and certain mechanics that weren't really up to par, but they make up for it with other great gameplay enhancements like vibrant cities with lots to do. GTA IV doesn't even have that, so yeah, its bad.
