Im kind of surprised at the love for wild arms in this thread. To me, the series peaked with the first game and steadily decreased in quality after that. Wild Arms 3 was ok, but everything after that was not good, in my opinion anyway... |
No one know why they didn't make a sequel to the LoD, it was very profitable to Sony, it is the favourite game of some of the Sony's hardcore gamers, and when they put it into usa psn in 2012 it sold very well, leading some months over FF, RE and other gems that we had at the PS1. Maybe because the actual team that made it, a huge team to that time, over 100 guys working on it, went to work in a couple of other things after LoD, and maybe Sony don't want to make it a sequel if it isn't made by the original team (or some key people). I remember Shu said it was getting a sequel in 2000 for the PS2, but then he moved to USA and for some reason the project was left aside. Now shu is the head of Playstation, and the Cerny, the man behind the PS4 said a couple of times that he would love to see Sony do something with LoD, I remember he saying that is actually was his favourite games of the 90's (and that time if full of masterpieces). And the Dart character that was halted to the PSASBR due to poor DLC profits, Sony may get it another chance some time at this gen, well, at least the scenario is the best ever to it happen. I would like to see it announced this year as it's it 15th anniversary... but no signs =/ At least people here liked it :D

I read that LoD cost 16 million to make, which at the time was huge. Shu said it didn't make any profit until they released it in the US where it was most popular and ended up bring in some decent money. I get the feeling Sony wanted LoD to do far better than it did, even though it did great they wanted FF level of success.
