Said it before, the GFLOPs difference between the PS4 and XOne is comparable to 3-4 i7 cpu's.

Why are you comparing a gpu to a cpu?

Because the point of GPGPU is workloads that would otherwise be done on a CPU?

Yes, but I don't see the point in this specific example. I guess you wanted to highlight the advantage over desktop CPUs but that point is pretty much moot since desktop gaming PCs will be using GPGPU in their GPU as well, which is also much more powerful and advanced.

Saying that the console's GPGPU is 3-4 times faster than a desktop CPU is like saying a plane is faster than a car. True but irrelevant to compare.

Here's a good read:

There is no secret sauce in PS4, since they were never hiding anything, but Cerny said in that interiew they are expecting for devs to master using async compute somewhere mid-gen.

To simplify: if you read the interview carefully you will see that async compute translates into running lot of stuff that traditionally were run on CPU on GPU, at the same time as graphics, without taking any of processing power away from gfx tasks. And since PS4 has quite a few ACEs, I believe Anthony's comparison with CPUs.
