It's 108p, not 180p! xP But yeah, it's a pretty damn small difference (tad over 29%. For reference, 720p to 1080p would be 125%).
The shadows aren't a TV issue though. The colours are pretty much identical on both, and if it was simply a deeper crushing of the blacks then all the shadows would become more prominent, not just some. It's still a rather minor difference though.
