If you asked me as a kid, I would say Legend of Zelda. I could never get past the first couple temples on my own, but always went back and tried because it was so fun to explore.
Today, I wouldn't have an answer. The only way for me to get REALLY good at a game is if I have at least proficiency in the gameplay. I'll keep practicing BioShock until I get good one day, and I know I would love the game if I got farther, but alas....
