No Western devs remains now with Ubi gone (Activision left Wii U empty handed with no new CoD and WB has started avoiding WiiU)

It's really over now for the third party support hopes Nintendo might have had. From now on it shall be just 1st party games, so Nintendo better start developing games for the West. Not that Japan is getting any games from 3rdp arty devs there, but the problem here is that none of the big devs are on board.

If Nintendo turns Wii U into an "indie" machine, that would be disastrous as well. They must support the console heavily in the complete absence of third party games (Activision, Take Two, Ubisoft, EA, Warner Brothers)

Well, the problem with 3rd party devs, is that their software is selling bad on all systems. If you look at software sales for the month of April (and I mean in just N. America alone). If you take a look at the individual console software sales, the highest selling game was around 40k for the entire month! Nintendo's first party offerings sell much more than that on the Wii U and that's just one system, but those sales are down too.

The reality is much darker for 3rd party devs right now. However, with their latest business trends, they aren't making matters any better. By alienating Nintendo systems, they are artificially bottling themselves into a smaller market. When that market disappears, so will they. That's a fact.
