To anyone interested, persevere isn't really the word I'd use. The game can easily be completed in half an hour if you know what you're doing. Like OP says, the game is more than it seems. Once you get started on the real game it becomes easy. Yes, there's more to it. Since I wasted like an hour with the bullshit upgrades before I figured out how to proceed, I'll say this much to save you time: Get the turtle as soon as you can, then pay very close attention to the controls for the turtle, which it shows you: WASD or the arrow keys. All the arrow keys. As in not just left and right...you're welcome.
