With the news that Xbox One will be getting external hard drive support in June, I thought it would be fun to share the names we'll use for our hard drives!

For those not in the know, Xbox One will be able to support up to two external hard drives.  The drives will need to be USB 3.0 capable, but it appears they can be USB-powered (aka portable HDD's).  No word yet on maximum capacity, but a demonstration drive had a capacity of 4TB.  Implying that you're able to have at least a maximum capacity of 8.5TB (500GB internal + 4TB ext HDD + 4TB ext HDD) at one time.  You can run anything you like off the external HDD's, using them just the same as the internal one.  If you take the HDD to a friend's place (for example, to save the trouble and effort of installing/downloading updates on a game) some online account verification measures will be required for digital games, and you may need the disc as well for some games.

But best of all you get to NAME YOUR HARD DRIVES!

I am going to get a relatively small one first up, probably 1.5TB or 2TB.  I don't know why, but I think I am going to call it sparkplug alpha!

So, what will you name your HDDs.

Max is 16TB =P

UPDATE: A Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that the upper limit for external storage support is 16TB.

Unsure yet if it means 16 x 2 or 8 x 2

NICE!

Though the external storage would probably cost more than the console itself!

But, at a reasonable price you can now just about future proof yourself against storage issues for the forseeable future! Which is great when some games have 40GB+ installs!
