I feel like the hack 'n slash genre is in need of a comeback, since 2010 it's been a tough time for fans of the genre with both quality and quantity going down.
In 2010 we had God of War III, GoW: Ghost of Sparta, Castlevania: LoS, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, Bayonetta - Amazing year.
In 2011 we had nothing worth noting - Shit year.
In 2012 we had a poorly received NG3 and Darksiders 2. - Bad year.
In 2013 we had GoW: Ascension, DmC and Metal Gear: Revengeance - Decent year.
In 2014 we've just had the disappointing Castlevania: LoS2 so far with Bayonetta 2 coming later this year - Bad year so far.
The genre needs to be reinvigorated, I think we need more new IPs in the genre since NG, DMC and Castlevania are practically dead, Bayonetta 2 is probably going to flop and the future of Darksiders is iffy.
God of War 4 is a given, I'd also like to see Heavenly Sword and Dante's Inferno get sequels but I want some new western AAA IPs in this genre too.
