Here is the thing, there are good reasons to block ads, with a plugin or otherwise:
1 - willingly or not some ad-networks spread malware, they can infect your computer
2 - I don't want my kid to end up on a casino site
3 - wether or not you want it, you pay for the "free" content, about 12% of everything you buy (don't ask me for a source, it's a number I saw somewhere) if every one blocked ads they could instead recoup some of this money and buy what they want to read instead... If the gaming journalists did more than re-posting gaming companies PR lines/trailers.... That would work for all sorts of media too.
