They don''t get paid for Ads, that's the point. It's irrelivent because they get paid per video view so even if someone uses Ad block and skips all the Ads they get the same amount of money. However having an account that gets paid opens it up to Copy-right claims. There are pleanty of youtubers that do it for absolutly free becuase they don't want the hassle of dealing with having to dispute claims and having their videos taken down.
