With the power the consoles have right now it is possible that we won't have much of a standard. It will depend on the genre...racing/fighting 1080p60fps, open world could be 720p30fps, adventure games 1080p30fps, but who knows.

Even taking different genres into consideration we never saw much of a difference overall in game performance last gen and I don't think that will change this gen. The standard last gen became 720p/30fps with the exception of certain genres like sports games aiming for 1080p/30fps, fighting games aiming for 720p/60fps and sometimes 45-60fps, and so on. But the majority were at the standard though. Even with open world games, I don't see them settling for 720p
this gen. But like you said, who knows.

Well I do agree that in general we could have 1080p30fps, but some genres as we both put will have their special needs and demands. FM5 had to cut a lot to achieve 1080p60fps, but at their next inputs they will probably have the same res/fps with better effects.
