In some aspects maybe. The Kinect removal wasn't one of them. It would just be a problem if there was some big expensive AAA 3rd party game relying on it, but probably there wasn't any game being made for it. The used games policy probably made some 3rd parties rush to add online passes to games (because they wouldn't be necessary with the previous policy). I actually believe they aren't "pissed", just disapointed by how much lost and confuse the management of the X1 has been. It's clear to anyone that things didn't happen as they believed and their efforts to improve it were pretty crazy and plain weird. Cutting the price was their first move that makes sense.

Anyway, it isn't quite like Saturn. They were similar in launching a weaker machine with a bigger price point, but Sega even managed to piss off retails stores with the surprise launch. And while MS probably started taking bad decisions with X1, Sega was doing it with Sega CD and 32X before the Saturn, so they were pretty bad damaged at that point.
