| fooflexible said: Cheating implies playing with an advantage not intended by the developer. Downloading a game save to skip a level, is like skiping a chapter of a dvd we don't like, or speed reading past a boring page in a book, I'm not playing with weapons I shouldn't have yet, or a god mode. And game saves are not affecting anyones online experience. If your principles are so high and mighty that you wouldn't dare skip a level by cheating, that's great for you, but now we are going to impose these principles on everyone? Secondly this is not good for business, people downloading games saves aren't people stealing games, they are spending healthy amount of money on this industry, they are also people with disposable income as they have pissed money away on devices to hook up their harddrive or memory devices to their pcs. So Microsoft is pissing off good customers. And seriously who's not buying Microsoft games because a few other people out there are cheating? No one. So as Microsoft falls to third place in the console race, in arguably Sony's biggest year, Microsoft's strategy is to spend money on policing the only gaming community that has to pay subscription fees. |
I don't think using saves from other people should be counted in cheating myself. Do you somehow know that this is specifically counted in their cracking down on cheaters?
Though I definitely think they SHOULD police the only gaming community that you pay subscription fees for, to make it fair for everyone that is paying. Though I didn't realize people were cheating on gamerscores. Why would you do that? Personally I think they should somehow help with the vulgar online chat. I'd like it very much if, rather than having to mute people constantly, you could set it to only be able to chat with or hear people on your friends list, or within your current group, in Halo 3 for instance.
