| TheLastStarFighter said: Wii U and XBOne have both had some initial issues. Wii U launched great but quickly sales went in the pooper, and One has taken a significant back seat to PS4 since launch and is in danger of losing many 360 buyers to Playstation. Here are some of the problems: Wii U: -Dropping third party support. -Terrible sales rate. -Delays of 1st party software. -Unoriginal software. -Overall software droughts. -Lack of mainstream attention. -Lack of interest in unique features (Gamepad, TV, etc) -Some expected features missing (trophies, etc) XBOne: -High cost. -A movement of COD mainstream players to PS4. -Unwanted Kinnect. -Unliked ant-piracy measures. -No must-have software. -Lesser versions of multiplatform games. -Image of not being the "it" item for mainstream consumers in North America in comparisson to PS4. -Declining marketshare vs. PS360 gen and inventory piling up on shelves. Significant problems, for sure. But as we saw with both XB360 and PS3 last gen, consumers have a short memory and a product can be turned around with swift action. RROD, the $600 PS3... these things can be overcome. An introduction of something fresh like Kinnect can even combat the advantages of a craze like the Wii, so all is not lost for these two factions. However, action has to be taken... or does it? Is it better to stay the course? Through a year and a half, Nintendo has essentially gone with the status quo, releasing known franchises and implementing a minor price drop and sutble updates to the Wii U OS. MS has gone into panic mode, dropping Kinnect, changing policies, securing 3rd party exclusives and dropping the base price. Which course is better? Is there other things they should be doing? Things they shouldn't? Will the strategies work to improve fortunes? |
