As I see it, the next wave of hardware needs to be more functional. I could see another Sony handheld, for instance, that itself does everything that a tablet does and is based on Android. That's kind of where I thought they were going with the Playstation Mobile platform. I mean, really, the Vita as a phone would have been awesome.
The truth is, gaming on a small screen is more popular than ever. The separation we make between between "mobile" and "dedicated handhelds" is kind of artificial. Whomever offers both first will be on to something.
