It was up to MS to convince those consumers that Kinect is a must have...and they failed, just like Nintendo managed to do that with Wiimote and failed with Gamepad.
Personally, I would rather that both PS4 and XOne had the same Kinect-alike capabilities, so that 3rd parties can actually start using them, but sorry, you can't shove your product down the people's throat if they don't want it.
