| Kyuu said: "Please let's not give Sony credit for something it doesn't deserve" "The move isn't a bad device. It's just a HD Wii" Apparently, when Sony does it.. it's only HD technology. But when Microsoft pretty much does the same thing, it gets called "innovation" seeing how Kinect is pretty much an HD Eye-Toy with little upgrades and more precision. Why did nobody call Sony's EyeToy innovation when it came out several years before Kinect? EyeToy was further upgraded into Playstation Eye and later Playstation 4 Camera (which ironically was ridiculed copying Kinect even though it's an optional device like Eyetoy) Neither Sony nor Microsoft innovated much in comparison to Nintendo. Microsoft (Mainstreamed) console online gaming. One of Nintendo's many innovations/upgrades is a proper analog stick. Sony quickly added a second Analog Stick to perfect the half-assed Nintendo concept, they also pushed the industry forward with Playstation by mainstreaming Mature/3D gaming and appealing to much larger audience. They had the balls to mainstream laser disk based technology which would become the standard for over 2 decades. The original Playstation made the impossible given Sony's lack of experience in the medium. But in the end, Innovation remains a tricky word.. |
I'm sorry but comparing move to kinect is like comparing the steam engine to combustion engine.... yeah they serve the same purpose and provide the same end result.... but they are vastly different non the less
what sony implemented was nothing new whether it was with eye toy or move even though it is a really nice thing to implement in gaming but when it comes to kinect it is technologically a completely new way of approching the motion tracking field at that price tag....
they all have addavnced the gaming industry in their own way but it hasn't always been through innovation, just by perfecting things and implementing them in a better way which is just as important if not more than raw innovation as the dawnfall of kinect proved painfully :)
