Looks like there going down the PS+ route with the ONE atleast.

So now the Free gold games are "rent" like PS+?

If they wanted to compete with PS+ which has relatively newish games to rent and not just 4 year old Gear of War then yes. Developers will be more willing to let them on a rentable service/limited time to play, than just here's a game for nothing forever like Game on Gold (360) was.
