the way you describe him he comes of as somebody who doesn't have any real friends and just tries to belong/please the people he is around by saying something they like to hear
ofcourse I have no way of knowing if he really is that way, but if that's how you perceive that person then I don't know why you would bother to have him as a friend to be honest

and how would they react if you said that you know that guy has been an avid gamer (like yourself) for a year, yet when he is around non-gamers he says that "gamers have no life" and that "playing games is just a waste of time" and that you stopped being friends with him because you can't handle that somebody would be so two faced?
