Greetings from the other side of the Pole. What do Russians think about Canada (other than we're America's hat)? And have you read the Metro 2033 book series?

Hi! Canada is northern country - so of course we like you! ))) It is a country with all the benefits of USA but with colder weather and minus all the USA crasyness. (This is just my personal opinion).
I didn't read Metro books. They are very popular in Russia recently, but I've stopped reading fantasy books some time ago.

Good to hear, we do our best, haha.

I do think this thread as a whole is a good idea, especially since the public distortion between the US and Russia is massive. I come from near that part of the world, I'm Romanian by origin but I also have family that came from Russia and Ukraine. What I've noticed, living in a Western country but also living with people (my dad especially) that are keeping forms of their culture alive, is how large of a contrast there is between the two realities and how every story is more complicated than it seems.

I don't think some people realise how different cultures can be from each other, so I definitely think that discussion is a good way to eliminate sterotypes and have thought instead of conflict.
