If you notice, such reviews don't happen with the 3DS, where its positioning is all about silly and light games with hilarious characters for kids and casual consumers. 3DS delivers just that, and everyone, including the reviewer, is happy. |
But the reason for this is because the 3DS isn't capable of offering a handheld version of 7th gen software.
There have been a couple of PS2 ports I think, which were noticably inferior to their originals and they didn't suffer in ratings.

Is a pretty prime example, that game drops into single digits for frame rate on 3DS in places. 3DS also positioned itself as a serious format on launch with titles like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter being key upcoming early releases. I didn't see Revelations getting marked down for needing a huge add on analogue stick to become playable. It was "wow Resident Evil on the move!" It was also the highest scoring version of the game.

At the end of the day, although they're opinions, reviewers should be reviewing titles as stand alone products for the format they are on, not comparing them to other versions (sure comment, the frame rate/visuals are better on X platform, but that's irrelevant if you don't actually own said platform), as really, any multi format game that isn't 1080p or higher and 60fps+ should be marked down for being inferior to the PC version running on a $2000 rig. ;)
