I never bought into the Kinect on the 360, I feel no need for it. I do agree, even after the pricing scheme of the 360, that the XB1 is too much, I also feel the same way for the PS4, but the PS4 is obviously the better deal, especially since it seems to have a better list of games and doesn't force a piece of extra hardware on you. Also, the PS4 seems to have the better hardware. Having said that, I have never owned a PS of any kind, always Nintendo thru the N64 (stopped there) and the OG Xbox and the 360. My primary platform has been PC going back to the late 1970s, although starting with the OG Xbox and the first few years of the 360, I really did most of my gaming on those two consoles. But, the past 4 or so years I have been back to my first love, PC.

I don't think this will killl the Xbox series, but I don't think it has a prayer to compete with the PS4 this gen, I mean the PS3 beat out the 360 in overall sales and it had a year later release than the 360. Still, considering the sales of the 360 and the PS3, I don't think either the PS4 or the XB1 will come close to the sales of its direct predecessors and the current sales numbers express that when looking back at relevant timeline sales of the 360 and PS3; but the XB1 is doing really bad in sales considering!! (<--- emphasis mine) Microsoft went to far into the DRM thing at the outset of the XB1's release as well as marketing too much to the content the XB1 offers, while somewhat forgoing that it is a gaming console and that's what most people who buy it will use it for, gaming.

If and when I decide to ever buy into this gen, it will probably be the XB1, but that will be more than likely when it comes down about $150 in price and there's a compelling list of games I'd like. Since I almost exclusively play RPGs, a genre that doesn't appeal to me much on consoles for the obvious reasons, it may never happen at all. But, if I want to get an XB1 according to my price range and if there's a decent game list, that won't probably happen until at least another two years from now; I'll see when that time comes.
