The point is this, a fan who is willing to take the time to sit down and watch an e3 event, by and large, is a person who is already following the gaming media, someone who is invested in the industry, in other words a person whose money nintendo, sony or microsoft already has and can safely assume will receive more support from in the future. Making them feel more involved is good at maintaining the relationship but the big 3 would be hard pressed in expanding their potential user base by focusing too much on them.
