| Words Of Wisdom said: Why are you reacting with so much hostility to my post? I agree with small cars being unsafe. Driving one is a pain as a strong wind literally feels like it will blow the car over. I drive a medium-sized car (over 3,400 lbs) so it corners and holds the road a lot better. I'm not talking about a single moment of thoughtlessness, I'm talking about every motorcyclist I've seen. That includes local and crosscountry driving. I'm sure there's a safe and intelligent motorcyclist out there, I've just never seen her on the road. |
I appoligize I didn't know I was being so hostile. Although, I do drive a motorcycle so I guess it could be you telling me I'm a bad driver or Twestern telling me I deserve to die
. Are motorcycles more unsafe then most vehicles? Definately. One small accident risks death and they are difficult to see. But my problem is people get myopic (not necessarily you, yet
) The number one cause of accident is just people not paying attention whether it be because they aren't feeling well enough to drive and drive anyway, they are talking to a friend in the car or cellphone, or changing the radio, adjusting the seat, etc, etc, etc. Let's say we do ban motorcycles. What does this accomplish? Safer less congested roads? More alert drivers? Then if we start there why don't we just ban other unsafe vehicles? I know motorcyclists will often do stupid things. But if everyone of them of them is bad, what is the percentage of other drivers that do stupid things? I drive in Detroit alot for work. I personally wouldn't drive a motorcycle in Detroit because I've seen what drivers do. And actually, I've only seen a motorcycle a few times while driving in that city. But it doesn't make me loathe driving there any less or feel more safe because I know motorcycles won't be there.
