Shallow story? You could make a case about the gameplay, but no way about the other!

 

I'd suggest you try Dead Rising 1 or 2.

A good story is much more than a series of events that take place. That's exactely what DR3 story was. Having an idea or a meaning to share is the first step. I feel like it's too late for me to get into the series tbh.
