Need Final Fantasy advice! For the PS3 (I don't trust Metacritic)

FF XIII has zero gameplay in the first 12 hours. You run forward and press x. That's all. It's an absolute joke in my book, and if it had a different name it wouldn't have sold anything. The only redeeming quality was the (amazing) graphics.
