I am probably stepping into a hornets nest by saying but I will say truth. In FFVII CGI and gameplay were different. There is no problem. There is no problem with CGI cutsenes in modern games either. But when companies tries to deceive us its a bad thing. ND did this so many times. They even used 60fps video for Uncharted 3 trailer.

During uncharted 1 days many game review sites cited cutscenes are amazing. Most of the people played in decently made environment and saw bumped visuals for cutscenes. They though, wow. Look at the graphics. But in reality it was different.

Also santa monica did the same with god of war 3. When they got caught they indirectly said, ps3 wasnt capable of producing those level of graphics.

If reviewers said that the cutscenes were great I don't see the harm.

And I do remember SSM said all GoW3 were in game (at the time understood as realtime footage, no precorded CGI) and them explained it used the same engine but were pre-processed... they sure could have been a lot more clear.

From wikipedia:

"all the cutscenes are created using our in-game engine; however, some scenes were just too epic to run real-time and thus are recorded videos."[34]

Epic or too much for ps3? I dont know. You can explain better.
