They might as well try it because they need to find whatever profit sources they can at this point, but I wonder if there isn't market saturation here.

Disney is launching Star Wars and Marvel Universe NFC toy lines this fall too.

If I'm a parent and the choice is buying a $60 starter kit for the XBox 360 my kid already has or paying $300 for a Wii U for the Nintendo figures ... I think Nintendo loses that battle honestly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the main consumer of these Nintendo toys are actually just 20-35 year old Nintendo fans.

There are no announcements made for Star Wars Infinity as of late. It will most likley be a November 2015 title, just in time for their Star Wars VII.

Skylanders and Disney Infinity have not launched in Japan yet - Nintendo have the market all to themselves and the bulk of their profits are derived from Japan. The potential is there.

In addition, Skylanders and Disney Infinity have a higher attachment on Nintendo consoles that their competitors - target audience is already accustomed in purchasing figurines. Nintendo needs only to market the product accordingly.

15-20% of Lego's revenues are from individuals aged between 20-35.
