They will release new hardware but it will be a new handheld. Rushing out a home console really would be suicide. Just imagine the amount of momentum and mass market relevance the PS4 and XO are going to have in 2 years with titles like FF15, MSG5, Uncharted 4, Halo 5, Gears 4, Fallout/Elderscrolls Kingdom Hearts 3, a ton of unannouced stuff, New Ips and probably a $299 price tag... Nintendo has to allow those systems to die down and bit (late 2017 IMO). They also have to allow space for affordable technology to far surpass what sony and microsoft are offering.
Really their best bet with the Wii U is to stop loosing money from it; which means maintaining its current price point but increasing hardware sales through compelling software and holiday promotions. Also for the first time since launch, I'm thinking a system without the gamepad may not be so crazy, non of their up coming games even use it.
