I don't see Microsoft taking any hardware advice from Nintendo, as far as software goes it could go either way, Nintendo games could remain the same, but on a Microsoft console or we could have another Rare situation.  Also I could see Microsoft still letting Nintendo make handhelds to compete against Sony's handheld.

Not after Wii U, I think Microsoft is gonna stick to what they know.  Also most of Nintendo innovations include completely changing the controller, and I think we can agree Microsoft is not changing their controller. 

Nintendo introduced motion controls but still kept a controller with buttons to hold with Wiimote+Nunchuck. Microsoft got rid of the controller altogether with Kinect. That's like going to the opposite end of the spectrum as far as controller innovation goes.
