What TV do you game on?

It's the one at the bottom. It's got a "great" rating. Don't know how great = horrible. Maybe your friend doesn't know how to change it to "game mode" (which would just be sad). I play a lot of latency sensitive games on it and it outperforms the plasmas I regularly game on by a long shot. 

I don't think it's a 2013 model, also there is no game mode. I've searched and searched for him but the internet confirmed there is none. :(

 

Edit: Also, turning off LED Motion Plus or what it's called makes the situation better, but not nearly optimal.
