Such was gaming in the 80s and 90s. I also found it fascinating particularly with arcade conversions, seeing how companies adapted them to work on much more limited hardware.

Gaming is kind of going full circle right now as games like Shadow of the Beast came from tiny developers who started in bedrooms, and the indie scene right now is going back to that. You're also finding that they come out on loads of formats.

The big difference is how much parity there is between versions now. But it was always interesting to look at different versions, because unlike now, the most powerful system didn't necessarily mean the best version of a game.
