Tekken is my franchise, I love it and am good at it. The 4 button system works perfectly and I moan at anyone who uses L and R buttons to do throws.... amateurs they are.
Tekken 5 is the best made so far. It has the playability of 3 yet had the smoothness of modern games. Tekken 6 was good but the juggling mechanic broke it a little. Characters were designed for the game with juggling in mind, yet many characters are so old and their styles didn’t adapt as well so online became a game of every other character was Lars. :P Tekken Tag 2 is a joke, get lifted in the air once and more than 50% of your energy can disappear. Not only that, people learnt it as a sequence of buttons, they’d repeat the same few opening moves and then everything is a set pattern, no different from a Dance game. Very sad, while old Tekken was all to do with outsmarting your opponent.
Tekken Revolution is a nice addition but make me fearful for the series future. Can a new Tekken be made if a Tekken can be given for free. Then if they do a new one, it has to be like Tekken 5 and not 6 or Rev. The flash moves in Rev can be exploited a lot, and juggling is a crap mechanic.
Also, I am a big fan of Star Gladiator on PS1, fantastic game.
Played SC2 a lot, and alright at Streetfighters a bit.
Hmm, pie.
