Umm... Sonic and the Secret Rings says hi. In that it looks like you can't go back; almost like it does the running for you automatically.
In all seriousness, A great 3D Sonic game can be made... If it weren't made by Sega. They swung and missed what, four times now? They are incapable of making a good Sonic game, IMO.
That's not to say I can do better, though.
