You should never list rumored games when trying to make a point.

In any event the gen isn't off to the "slow start" that you make out. There's a nice balance between retail and downloadable games, in a ddition to a few Remasters.

I only listed the rumored games that are almost certain to come out this year.

In terms of downloadable games, most of those that I've noticed are indies that are already available at places like Steam. Retail is dominated by cross gen games like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, Thief, Tomb Raider, Spider Man 4, etc. In older generations, most newer games were full retail, not ports, remakes, or cross generation.

I wouldn't call them certain, at least not all of them. Beyond and Halo 2, as of now, have no confirmation of existence, and the few that do are just that, few.

As for the DL games, still doesn't negate what I said. This gen, already, has plenty to play (with the typical upcoming drought). The only wonder is interest - who has it, who doesn't. Outside of that, it is hardly an anomaly, especially since we should be including the Wii U.

I agree with you about the Wii U, it has an excellent catalog, it's just the other two don't seem to be doing quite as strongly in terms of brand new, original, next-gen content. It is changing fast, and I'm sure by the end of the year this gen will be in full steam.
