A theory for why this generation is off to a slow start

Tomb Raider, Last of Us, rumored Beyond Two Souls, Rumored Halo 2 collection, rumored Mass Effect, and the majority of the rest are games that are cross gen. In terms of original content, this gen started off a little slow. 

You should never list rumored games when trying to make a point. 

In any event the gen isn't off to the "slow start" that you make out. There's a nice balance between retail and downloadable games, in a ddition to a few Remasters.

I only listed the rumored games that are almost certain to come out this year.

In terms of downloadable games, most of those that I've noticed are indies that are already available at places like Steam. Retail is dominated by cross gen games like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, Thief, Tomb Raider, Spider Man 4, etc. In older generations, most newer games were full retail, not ports, remakes, or cross generation.
