I'm talking about software-wise, not hardware. The PS4 is selling like hotcakes, but a ton of the titles are remakes or enchanced ports from the last gen.

Because publishers have found a smarter way to make the transision between consoles, where previous gens they just took big hits, theyve learnt to spread the bets. Besides previous gens were just stuck with poor sequels with most of the content cut out to get something for launch.
