Everyone has played childrens at one time or another, but not everyone has played mature games. e.g. if you are a racing enthusiast whose played mario kart and gran turismo, but then stop playing mario kart, it doesnt mean you want to feel grown up, it means you want to drive a car or cart with physics which mario kart cant offer.

Likewise, no-one goes around labelling people who pick mario kart over GT as wanting to be kids, because they might prefer a racing experience where handling physics is not main focus of the game.

The BS that people pick games to fit a stereotype needs to stop. People do not play video games for years and years just to claim they are grown up, they do it because the level of entertainment they are getting is unmatched by anything else they have tried.

When those people state their reasons for doing so, then there's no need to speculate. The rating system of the ESRB plays a big role in this, because they call it "M for mature". This makes people who wish to be grown up sincerely believe that there is mature content in M-rated games and as adults, or wannabe adults, it becomes unthinkable for them to play anything that isn't M-rated, unless it's sports or racing, because football and cars are manly things. And as a result, they dismiss Nintendo as being for children, and children only.

Take sales2099, for example. His story is that he was a Nintendo fan, but after the GameCube he felt that Nintendo didn't want to grow up with him, so he switched to the Xbox brand and became GeneralMLD on Youtube. True story.

tbh ive seen more people state their reason for playing nintendo games because they are not mature games than mature gamers saying they dont play nintendo games because they are cartoony.

Its become unthinkable for many to accept that mature rated games can simply be better than cartoony games (im not saying all are), and instead go around making excuses about how people have limited their content to just mature games.

and this goes back to the previous point I made, more mature gamers play cartoony games than kids play mature games. mature gamers ARE playing a wider range of games than kids, so its just a non issue which you are blowing out of proportion.

If some people like sales2099 dont feel nintendo offer similar content to that found in other games and therefore he does play then whats the problem with that? Its nintendo's fault for making too many of the same type of games. They are the ones limiting their own appeal. Not everyone HAS to like cartoony games, and the reason isnt because they are cartoony, its often related with the satisfaction gained from the game. It doesnt take very long before jumping on an enemy to watch them disappear gets boring, eventually people seek games where there are better animations, more interactivity, and so on.
