It's hard to say, but the Monster Hunter franchise is definitely a system seller in Japan, and will likely boost Vita sales quite a bit if that happened (so it's difficult to predict an exclusive MH performance based off of the current install base for the Vita). However, I personally want a Monster Hunter title built specifically for home consoles (i.e., not just an enhanced port of a portable title), which I think would help boost the franchise's popularity in the west.
