I don't think you're understanding the problem. There is nothing wrong with the blu-ray--it's actually better that way. You are seeing the whole film as the director intended. A normal dvd gets it's sides cut off so you don't get the WHOLE picture (like when you zoomed in on the blu-ray), but it fits the screen that way. (Unless you buy a widescreen dvd which would also have bars on the top and bottom) A standard dvd is missing part of the pic just like when you zoom in on the blu-ray. The bars on the blu-ray are good. It means you're seeing the whole movie as it was intended. If you don't understand that then just watch normal dvd's in ignorance and be happy. If anything you should be upset with all the "half movies" you've seen on standard dvd. Who knows what got cut off the picture? Lol, if you want to blame anyone, blame it on the movie studios that film such wide pictures.
