I've always assumed that it was true because it's not important enough to lie about. I don't really care either way.
Damn, though, why is Centipede in there?
I actually remember getting E.T. for my Atari when I was a kid. E.T. was a HUGE phenomenon back then. I can still remember how frustrating it was. You really had no idea what you were doing. I'd rank it as the second worst video-game I've ever played.
