IDK whether in UK the situation for Labour Party is as serious, but elsewhere in Europe more and more people don't trust anymore politicians of their national parties members of PSE. In Italy PD still survives better than the other old-style parties thanks to its die-hard voters and now thanks to their new leader too that's not much less populist and demagogic than Berlusconi, Beppe Grillo or Bossi, but the large mass of the undecided could tip from abstensionism mostly to M5S at any moment, and, since he switched to moderated euroscepticism, even Berlusconi could gather some of them again. In France far right wing is growing again and the socialists plummeting. The fact that they have been more than ready to cut welfare state, but not their rich wages, or unproductive state costs that benefit just their network of influence, but not common citizens, doesn't help socialist politicians keeping their old voters, either. |
Well "Blue Labour" is a faction of the labour party trying to replace "New Labour. " who essentially think a big reason Labour lost was due to not listening to peoples euroskepticism and immigration fears combined with them thinking it was a mistake to resort to modern economic thinking made popular by Thatcher.
So if they get their way Labour will essentially be an anti immigrant, anti-EU party that's for corprotism. (In the national unions way, not the give money to corporations way, but being polticians, probably that way too.)
