Day 1 DLC makes some sense because it gives the development team the opportunity to push out more content after the deadline is hit. Digital distribution is, of course, not beholden to all of the restrictions placed on retail. I'll wait and see before deciding whether or not Mario Golf is abusing the practice.
On-disc DLC? I can't defend that.
