Get a Mastodon Greatsword, infuse it with Fire , upgrade it to +10 = Best Greatsword in the game. 

At Fire +10 it has 210 Phy/210 Fire dmg, plus B scaling for Str, E for Dex and B for base Fire dmg (Since Fire damage now scales with both Faith AND Intelligence). It easily goes near the 600 dmg mark, it's awesome for main game and NG+ and pretty useful for PvP.

Also, it's infusable with Flame Weapon  as well, if you opt to invest some points in Faith ( Pyromancies are accessible to everyone, no investment is required to be able to use Flame weapon ), so add an extra 50 Fire base damage +30% increased Fire damage.

I never knew that Mastodon Greatsword maintaints the ( B ) scaling even after infusion with an element. Got to try it ^^ . Eventhough I doubt that I'll ever replace my currentely favorite Lightning Zweihander.
