Why don't people like hard games anymore?

Never played either but Ikaruga is apparently too heavily reliant on memorizing rather than understanding the situation you're in. This is what I've been reading from expert Shoot em up players.

They're both too insane for me to a decide which one is harder anyway. I can't even handle Gradius IV on Hardest (in one go) There seems to be a lot more bullets and projectiles in Touhou games compared Ikaruga but they typically move much slower.

 

 

That's kinda why I like CAVE's shumps. They are not easy by any means, but almost anyone can learn how to beat the games. Akai Katana or Deathsmiles, those are great.
