PlayStation is a powerful brand. Sony is selling PS4s based only on promises and public's perception. They've proved in all their 3 generations, that they give strong support to their home consoles, so people just buy the console and wait for the games.
And by the time the hype dies, they're gonna have something to announce, resetting the hype.
