Well, I did not like the Wii... At all. It was my most disliked Nintendo system. But I did buy Wii U day one just like I do all Nintendo consoles and after playing Wii U I was definitely convinced it was an awesome console.
No, I did not expect it to flop. I blame Nintendo mostly but not for their hardware decisions. I still think Wii U is a great system but I did not expect Nintendo to fail so hard at marketing this console. Even if it's selling abysmally Nintendo needed to ramp up commercials and ads months ago. How is it that about 18 months into this consoles life I still meet people that have no idea that Wii U even exists?
I still hope to see better Wii U numbers in the coming months but I don't expect it to sell above 35 mil when it's all said and done. I'm sure most people will laugh at that number considering Wii U's present state of sales but I think it will still sell more than GameCube in the end.
