Weirdly, I felt disappointed to learn it was on the way. I think this was because we only got our Wii in 2010 and it was still getting heavy usage on a daily basis. We were in no hurry to buy another console, and at first look, I didn't really understand how the controller would work. I had no reason to believe it would do as badly as it has, though.
(Edit to add) I felt the same way about the 3DS when it was released. The DS we had was being played a lot, and we had no reason to get a 3DS (the 3D feature didn't appeal at the time)
