These systems might be around for a while. |
I need to make a few "edit"s...
* ....but PS4 seems to be doing FINE* at 1080p....
* ... the consoles will soon be outmatched by AN* average pc in a few years.
Also, If I were in the shoes of Sony and MS, I wouldn't simply abandon the 7th Generation any time soon (pretty much what Sony did with PS2), but continue to support it, well into the late periods. They have a huge user base out there, and you may keep the platform as a cheaper solution, while making the games available for a lower price (in a few years) than their next gen versions both and give an upgrade path to those who finally migrate to the 8th gen system.
The graphics jump is still substantial but the 7th generation has been quite impressive and sufficient unless you compare it to the next gen consoles or high end PCs. They should be around untill they feel antiquated (basically like PS2 feels now).
